Job summary

FedEx Freight, Inc. is looking for a professional truck driver to operate tractor-trailer units, including doubles and straight trucks, and to perform required safety inspections and paperwork. The role may involve dock work and forklift operations as needed.

The job requires a Class A CDL or CLP, a compliant MVR, and DOT regulatory knowledge. Candidates should be able to work independently, communicate effectively, and provide excellent customer service on every shift.

Qualifications

• Must possess a Class A Commercial Driver's License (CDL) or a commercial learning permit (CLP).
• MVR must meet company hiring standards.
• DOT regulatory requirements under 49 CFR Part 391.
• Ability to count and perform basic math, with or without a calculator.
• Basic written and verbal communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Operate tractor-trailer combination, including doubles and/or straight trucks.
• Perform pre-trip, post-trip, and inter-trip safety inspections on equipment.
• Hook/unhook trailers and converter dollies to/from tractor/trailer.
• Maintain accurate daily logs.
• Verify and complete required documentation and reports.
• Communicate with Dispatch regarding delays, arrivals, or equipment problems.
• Comply with hazmat regulations and placarding as required.
• Demonstrate customer service to internal and external customers.
• May perform city driver or freight handler duties as needed.
• Handle freight using forklift, pallet jack, and hand truck as required.
• Chain vehicle tires as needed.
• Follow laws, regulations, and company policies.
