Job summary

FedEx Freight, a leader in freight hauling, is seeking drivers trained to operate tractor-trailers with a focus on safety and compliance. The role includes long-distance driving, dock duties, and occasional non-driving tasks.

You will conduct pre-trip and post-trip inspections, maintain logs, and adhere to hazmat regulations. Compensation starts at the stated hourly range with growth based on experience and schedule.

Qualifications

• Must possess a Class A CDL or a CDL license (CLP) before entering job classification.
• Must have acceptable MVR based on hiring standards.
• Must meet all DOT regulatory requirements under FMCSA 391.
• Ability to count and perform basic math, with or without a calculator.
• Basic written and verbal communication skills.
• Ability to hook up and break down sets of trailers with average lift of ~100 lbs several times a day.
• Ability to sit for extended periods, bend, twist, squat, climb in and out of truck.
• Ability to follow instructions and complete required training.
• Ability to work independently and/or as part of a team.

Responsibilities

• Operate tractor-trailer combinations, including doubles and/or straight trucks.
• Perform pre-trip, post-trip, and inter-trip safety inspections.
• Hook/unhook trailers and converter dollies.
• Maintain accurate daily logs.
• Verify and complete required documentation and reports.
• Communicate with Dispatch regarding events and delays.
• Comply with hazmat regulations and placarding requirements.
• Provide internal and external customer service.
• Perform necessary non-driving duties such as city driving or freight handling.
• Operate equipment like forklift, pallet jack, or hand truck as required.
• Chain vehicle tires when needed.
• Follow all laws, regulations and company policies.
