Job summary

Qualifications

• CDL or CLP required before entering job classification.
• Must possess acceptable MVR based on hiring standards.
• Must meet DOT regulatory requirements under 49 CFR Part 391.
• Ability to count and perform basic math, with or without a calculator.
• Basic written and verbal communication skills.
• Ability to hook up and break down sets of trailers requiring substantial lift.
• Ability to sit for extended periods, bend, twist, squat, climb in and out of truck.

Responsibilities

• Operate tractor-trailer combination, including doubles and/or straight trucks.
• Perform pre-trip, post-trip, and inter-trip safety inspections on equipment.
• Hook/unhook trailers and converter dollies to/from a tractor and/or trailer.
• Maintain accurate daily logs.
• Verify and complete required documentation and reports.
• Communicate with Dispatch and follow instructions regarding delays, arrivals, equipment problems, etc.
• Comply with hazmat regulations and placarding as required.
• Demonstrate internal and external customer service.
• Where operationally necessary, perform driving or freight handling duties.
• Operate forklift, pallet jack, and hand truck as needed.
• Chain vehicle tires when required.
• Follow all laws, regulations, and company policies.
