Job summary

FedEx Freight in Sparks, NV is seeking a CDL driver to operate tractor-trailer combinations, including doubles and/or straight trucks. You will perform safety inspections, hook/unhook trailers, and maintain logs while following dispatch guidance and DOT regulations.

This role requires CDL/CLP, a clean MVR, and the ability to work independently or with a team. Overnight stays may be required and pay starts at $26.23 per hour with potential for higher rates up to $31.23 per hour.

Qualifications

• Must possess a class A CDL or CLP before entering job classification
• Must possess acceptable MVR based on hiring standards
• Must meet all DOT regulatory requirements under 49 CFR Part 391
• Ability to count and perform basic math, with or without a calculator
• Basic written and verbal communication skills
• Ability to hook up and break down sets of trailers that require an average lift force of ~100 pounds
• Ability to sit for extended periods, bend, twist, squat, climb in/out of truck
• Ability to follow instructions and complete training
• Ability to work independently and/or as a team member

Responsibilities

• Operate tractor-trailer, including doubles and/or straight trucks
• Perform pre-trip, post-trip, and inter-trip safety inspections
• Hook/unhook trailers and converter dollies
• Maintain accurate daily logs
• Verify and complete required documentation and reports
• Communicate with Dispatch regarding delays, arrivals, equipment problems, etc.
• Comply with hazmat regs and placarding
• Demonstrate internal and external customer service
• Where needed, perform city driver or freight handler duties
• Handle freight using equipment like forklift, pallet jack, hand truck
• Chain vehicle tires as required
• Comply with laws, regulations, and company policies
• Perform other duties as required
