Job summary

FedEx Freight is seeking a driver to operate tractor-trailer combinations and contribute to dock operations in a fast-paced environment. Training will cover vehicle operation, safety checks, and freight handling with various equipment.

The role involves communicating with dispatch, loading freight, and ensuring accurate documentation. Candidates must hold a Class A CDL or CLP, pass MVR checks, and meet DOT regulations.

Qualifications

• Must possess a class A CDL or a commercial learning permit (CLP) prior to entering job classification.
• Must have acceptable Motor Vehicle Record (MVR) per hiring standards.
• Must meet DOT regulatory requirements under 49 CFR part 391.
• Ability to count and perform basic math, with or without a calculator.
• Basic written and verbal communication skills.
• Ability to lift/carry up to 100 pounds several times a day.
• Ability to work independently and/or as a team member.

Responsibilities

• Operate tractor-trailer combination, including doubles and/or straight trucks.
• Perform pre-trip and post-trip safety inspections on equipment.
• Hook/unhook trailers and converter dollies.
• Handle freight with forklifts, pallet jacks, and hand trucks.
• Secure freight inside trailers with pallets, straps, and rope.
• Recoup/repair damaged freight when necessary.
• Complete required documentation and reports.
