Job summary

FedEx Freight, Inc. is seeking a professional driver to operate tractor-trailer combinations, including doubles or straight trucks, and to perform pre/post/inter-trip safety inspections at service centers. Qualifications

• Must possess a Class A Commercial Driver's License (CDL) or a commercial learning permit (CLP).
• Must possess acceptable Motor Vehicle Record (MVR) based on hiring standards.
• Must meet all Department of Transportation (DOT) regulatory requirements under FMC regulations 391.
• Ability to count and perform basic math, with or without a calculator.
• Basic written and verbal communication skills.
• Ability to hook up and break down sets of trailers requiring ~100 lb lift.
• Ability to sit for extended periods and to bend, twist, squat, climb in/out of truck.
• Ability to follow instructions and complete required training.
• Ability to work independently and/or as a team member.

Responsibilities

• Operate tractor-trailer combination, including doubles or straight trucks.
• Perform pre-trip, post-trip, and inter-trip safety inspections.
• Hook/unhook trailers and converter dollies.
• Maintain accurate daily logs.
• Verify and complete required documentation and reports.
• Communicate with Dispatch and follow instructions.
• Comply with hazmat regulations and placarding where required.
• Demonstrate internal and external customer service.
• Perform freight handling and dock duties as needed.
• Chain vehicle tires when required.
