Job summary

FedEx Freight is seeking a driver to operate tractor-trailer combinations, including doubles and straight trucks, with duties spanning pickup/delivery between service centers and turn-points. You may perform non-driving tasks such as forklift operation and dock work, while maintaining logs and following dispatch instructions.

Qualified candidates hold a Class A CDL (or CLP), have a solid MVR, and meet DOT FMC 391 requirements.

Qualifications

• Must possess a class A CDL or commercial learning permit (CLP).
• Acceptable Motor Vehicle Record (MVR) per hiring standards.
• Must meet DOT regulatory requirements (FMC 391).
• Ability to count and perform basic math, with or without a calculator.
• Basic written and verbal communication skills.
• Ability to hook up and break down trailers with an average lift of ~100 pounds.
• Ability to sit, bend, twist, squat, and climb in/out of truck.
• Ability to work independently and/or as a team member.

Responsibilities

• Operate tractor-trailer including doubles/straights.
• Perform pre/post/inter-trip safety inspections.
• Hook/unhook trailers and converter dollies.
• Maintain accurate daily logs.
• Verify and complete required documentation/reports.
• Communicate with Dispatch on delays, arrivals, etc.
• Comply with hazmat regulations and placarding.
• Demonstrate internal/external customer service.
• Perform city driving or freight handling when needed.
• Operate freight handling equipment (forklift, pallet jack, hand truck).
• Chain vehicle tires as required.
• Follow all laws and company policies.
• Perform other duties as required.
