Job summary

FedEx Freight is seeking qualified drivers to operate tractor-trailer equipment, including doubles or straight trucks, with a CDL A. Responsibilities include thorough pre-trip and post-trip inspections, trailer hookups, and freight handling using forklifts and hand trucks.

Qualifications

• Must possess a Class A CDL or a commercial learning permit (CLP).
• Must meet MVR standards per hiring criteria.
• Must comply with DOT regulatory requirements under 49 CFR 391.
• Ability to count and perform basic math; basic writing and speaking skills.
• Ability to lift up to 100 pounds repeatedly and remain seated for long periods.

Responsibilities

• Operate tractor-trailer combinations, including doubles and/or straight trucks.
• Perform pre-trip, post-trip, and inter-trip safety inspections.
• Hook/unhook trailers and converter dollies.
• Move freight using forklift, pallet jack, and hand truck.
• Secure freight inside trailers with pallets, straps, and rope.
• Recoup/repair damaged freight as needed.
• Verify and complete required reports and paperwork.
• Collect checks for freight charges and maintain related docs.
• Comply with hazmat regulations and placarding.
• Communicate with Dispatch about delays, arrivals, or problems.
• Provide internal and external customer service.
• Determine customer pick-up or delivery needs and solicit additional business for sales leads.
• When necessary, perform road driver or freight handler duties.
• Chain tires and comply with laws and company policies.
