Job summary

Casella Waste Systems, Inc. is seeking a CDL Driver Apprentice who will obtain a Commercial Driver's Permit and complete federally required CDL instruction and training.

You will work alongside a Casella Driver Trainer and progress through assigned Line of Business routes as you gain experience and pass the licensing exam. The program covers training costs and onboarding at our Home Office in Rutland, VT, with opportunities for advancement, merit increases, and safety incentives as described in

Qualifications

• Must be at least 18 years old and legally eligible to work in the United States.
• Hold a state CDL Driver’s Class B permit with air brake endorsement or the ability to obtain within 6 months.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills with problem-solving ability.
• Physical ability to handle objects over 50 lbs and work in varying weather conditions.
• Successful completion of pre-employment drug screening is required.

Responsibilities

• Performs pre/post trip inspections of the assigned vehicle and ensures safety equipment is operational.
• Operates CDL-enabled trucks (rear/front/side load, roll-off) to service customers.
• Delivers courteous, timely service and supports company goals and customer satisfaction.
• Follows route assignments and completes required paperwork accurately.
• Assists with backing maneuvers and participates in ongoing training.
