Casella Waste Systems, Inc. is hiring a CDL Driver Apprentice to obtain a Commercial Driving Permit and complete federally required CDL training at our Rutland, VT home office.

The program covers training costs and onboarding, with a defined career path through multiple driver classifications. The role emphasizes safety, customer service, and adherence to federal and state regulations as part of the Career Pathways program, with an hourly starting rate of $24 and opportunities for advancement

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED required.
• Must be at least 18 years old.
• State issued Class B CDL with air brake endorsement or ability to obtain within 6 months.
• Legally eligible to work in the United States.

Responsibilities

• Perform pre/post trip inspections and ensure safety equipment is operational.
• Operate various waste collection trucks safely on streets and sites.
• Provide courteous customer service and timely service.
• Complete route documentation and paperwork accurately.
• Assist with back-up maneuvers and training activities.
