Job summary

Casella Waste Systems is seeking a CDL Driver Apprentice to obtain a Commercial Driving Permit and complete federally required CDL training under a Driver Trainer. You will train at our Home Office in Rutland, VT, with the company’s Career Pathways program advancing you from Apprentice to Class I/II/III Driver and Lead Driver levels.

Hiring range is $19-$20 per hour. Casella covers training costs, offers merit increases, safety bonuses, and a comprehensive benefits package as part of the Career

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED required.
• Must be at least 18 years old.
• CDL Permit Class B with air brake endorsement or ability to obtain within 6 months.
• Legal right to work in the United States.
• Pre-employment drug screen required.

Responsibilities

• Perform pre/post trip inspections and ensure safety equipment is functional.
• Operate and support safe handling of various waste collection trucks.
• Provide courteous customer service and timely service.
• Complete route documentation and required paperwork accurately.
• Manage route sheets and ensure bins are serviced and area is cleaned.
• Attend training programs and meetings as required.
• Notify Dispatch of service interruptions or safety issues.
• Assist with backing maneuvers and on-road tasks.
• Participate in training and development to support company goals.
