Job summary

Casella Waste Systems, Inc. is seeking a CDL Driver Apprentice to start a path toward a Commercial Driver's License. The program covers training costs, onboarding at the Rutland, VT home office, and a culture built on safety and service.

Starting pay is $23 per hour, with participation in a Career Pathways program offering advancement and merit increases. Training leads to CDL licensing exam and road test completion, under the guidance of a Casella Driver Trainer.

Qualifications

• Strong communication skills and customer service mindset.
• Ability to work as part of a team in a cooperative environment.
• Willingness to complete CDL program and licensing requirements.

Responsibilities

• Perform pre/post trip inspections and ensure safety equipment is functional.
• Operate a variety of trucks under supervision and follow safety standards.
• Assist with route sheets and end-of-day paperwork in compliance with company policies.
• Provide courteous service to customers and maintain positive interactions.
• Support training activities and participate in safety meetings as required.
• Assist with backing maneuvers and learn routes across the Line of Business.
