Job summary

Casella Waste Management is seeking a CDL Driver Apprentice who will obtain a Commercial Driver's License while training under a Driver Trainer. The role offers training cost coverage and onboarding at our Home Office in Rutland, VT, founded in 1975.

Participants advance through Career Pathways with opportunities for merit increases and safety bonus incentives. Training prepares for Class I–III Driver levels and leadership roles within Casella's service lines.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED required.
• Must have a state CDL Driver’s Class B permit with air brake endorsement or ability to obtain within 6 months.
• Physical ability to handle objects over 50 lbs.
• Drug screen required before employment.

Responsibilities

• Performs pre/post trip inspections and ensures safety equipment is operational.
• Operates various waste collection trucks safely at streets, sites, and construction areas.
• Provides courteous customer service and timely service.
• Completes route paperwork accurately.
• Attends scheduled training programs and meetings.
