Job summary

FedEx Freight is seeking a dedicated CDL driver to operate tractor-trailer combinations and support dock duties in Arlington, VA. The role includes pre-trip inspections, forklift handling, and ensuring secure freight within trailers.

The position requires a Class A CDL or CLP, and adherence to DOT regulations. You will interact with Dispatch and customers, and may perform additional road or freight handling tasks as needed. This is a full-time, on-site role with comprehensive benefits.

Qualifications

• Must possess a Class A CDL or CLP prior to entering job classification.
• Must possess acceptable Motor Vehicle Record (MVR) based on hiring standards.
• Must meet all DOT regulatory requirements under 391 FMC regulations.
• Ability to count and perform basic math, with or without a calculator.
• Basic written and verbal communication skills.
• Ability to lift/carry hand freight weighing up to 100 pounds, several times a week.

Responsibilities

• Operate tractor-trailer including doubles/straight trucks.
• Perform pre-trip, post-trip, and inter-trip safety inspections.
• Hook/unhook trailers and converter dollies.
• Move freight using forklift and pallet jack.
• Secure freight inside trailers with pallets, straps, and rope.
• Recoup/repair damaged freight when necessary.
• Complete required documentation and reports.
• Communicate with Dispatch and customers about pickups/deliveries.
• Possibly perform road driver or freight handler duties as needed.
