Job summary

FedEx Freight is hiring a driver to operate tractor-trailer combinations and handle dock duties in a hands-on role. The position involves non-driving tasks such as forklift operation and dock work, with emphasis on safety, inspections, and customer communication.

Starting pay starts at the rate listed, with a per-hour pay range for the posted role. Willingness to work day and night shifts and handle hazardous materials per DOT regulations is required. Benefits and overtime may apply as noted.

Qualifications

• Must possess a Class A CDL or a commercial learner permit (CLP) prior to entering job classification.
• Must possess acceptable Motor Vehicle Record (MVR) based on hiring standards.
• Must meet DOT regulatory requirements under FMC regulations.
• Ability to count and perform basic math, with or without a calculator.
• Basic written and verbal communication skills.
• Ability to hook up and break down sets of trailers requiring lift up to ~100 pounds multiple times daily.
• Ability to lift/carry hand freight up to 100 pounds several times a week.
• Ability to sit for extended periods, bend, twist, squat, climb in and out of truck.
• Ability to follow instructions and complete required training.
• Ability to work independently and/or as a team member.

Responsibilities

• Operate tractor-trailer, including doubles and/or straight trucks.
• Perform pre-trip, post-trip, and inter-trip safety inspections on equipment.
• Hook/unhook trailers and convertor dollies.
• Perform freight handling with forklift, pallet jack, and hand truck.
• Secure freight inside trailers using pallets, straps, and rope.
• Recoup/repair damaged freight when necessary.
• Verify and complete required documentation and reports.
• Communicate with customers to determine pick-up or delivery needs.
