160 Driving Academy in New York seeks a CDL Class A Instructor Trainer to teach students from their first pre-trip inspection to the day they pass their CDL exam, in the yard and behind the wheel.

You will be based at a designated yard, working with a team of instructors and a Lead Instructor, with occasional coverage at other regional yards. The role includes yard upkeep and ensuring a consistent student experience.

Qualifications

• Experience as CDL Class A driver or instructor required.
• Experience teaching or training others preferred.
• Ability to work in yard and field.
• Reliable, on-time attendance is essential.
• Able to climb in/out of a tractor cab and operate manual transmissions.

Responsibilities

• Teach Class A driving skills in outdoor yards using automatic and manual transmissions.
• Guide students through pre-trip inspections, yard maneuvers, and on-road driving.
• Prepare students to pass CDL testing standards on the first attempt.
• Track attendance and progress; provide additional support when needed.
• Maintain training records and documentation; report incidents to leadership.
