Job summary

160 Driving Academy is seeking a CDL Class A Instructor Trainer to educate students from pre-trip inspections through CDL testing, in yard and behind the wheel. You'll work with a Lead Instructor, cover regional yards as needed, and keep the yard tidy. This local, hands‑on role offers home every night and outcomes-based pay.

We value safety, reliability and strong communication as you guide drivers toward passing the exam the first time, with opportunities for growth across the network.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent required.
• Valid Class A CDL with 24 months of verifiable tractor-trailer experience.
• State of hire must match license state.
• Manual transmission experience required.
• MVR free of violations and DOT screening clearance.
• Background check clearance required.
• Strong communication and coaching skills.
• Basic computer skills for tracking progress.

Responsibilities

• Teach Class A driving skills in yard and on-road scenarios.
• Guide students through pre-trip inspections and maneuvers.
• Prepare students to pass CDL testing on first attempt.
• Track attendance and progress; provide extra support as needed.
• Maintain training records and timely Incident reporting.
• Collaborate with Lead Instructor to deliver consistent curriculum.
• Keep yard and building clean and presentable.
• Cover for other instructors at nearby yards during emergencies.
• Undergo 90-day probationary period and comply with safety rules.
