Job summary

160 Driving Academy is seeking a CDL Class A Instructor Trainer to teach students from pre-trip inspections to passing the CDL exam. You’ll work in designated yards with a team of instructors, with opportunities to cover regional yards when needed.

Expect a 90‑day probation and responsibilities including maintaining records and ensuring yard safety. This role emphasizes hands-on teaching, reliable attendance, and coaching students to achieve first‑time pass rates, with potential for bonuses

Qualifications

• High school graduation certificate or equivalent.
• Valid Class A CDL with a minimum of 24 months of verifiable Class A tractor-trailer driving experience. Exception – Nevada requires 5 years.
• The state where you obtained your license must be the same state where you apply.
• Manual transmission experience — licensed to operate and teach manual transmission.
• MVR free of violations and able to pass DOT physical/drug screening.
• Background check clearance required.

Responsibilities

• Teach Class A driving skills in outdoor yards using both automatic and manual transmissions.
• Guide students through pre-trip inspections, yard maneuvers, and on-road driving.
• Prepare students to pass CDL testing standards on the first attempt.
• Track attendance and progress; provide additional support when needed.
• Maintain training records, evaluations and documentation.
• Report incidents to lead and corporate in a timely manner.
• Collaborate with instructors to deliver a consistent student experience and curriculum.
• Assist with yard cleanliness and equipment transfers as needed.
