Job summary

FedEx Freight is seeking a qualified Class A CDL driver to operate tractor-trailers (including doubles where applicable) between service centers and turn-points. The role requires safety inspections, documentation, logs, and adherence to hazmat rules.

Must be able to hook trailers, follow dispatches, and perform loading/unloading as needed. Candidates should meet DOT FMC regs, maintain a good MVR, and be capable of independent work with initiative.

Qualifications

• CDL class A with double/triple endorsements and hazmat/tank endorsements.
• One year of recent truck driving experience or completion of FedEx Freight Driver Development Course.
• Acceptable MVR according to hiring standards.
• Must meet DOT FMC requirements under 49 CFR 391.
• LCV qualifications for listed states; minimum standards apply.
• Basic written and verbal communication skills.
• Ability to hook/unhook and lift trailers (~100 lbs) multiple times daily.
• Ability to sit for long periods, bend, twist, squat, climb in/out of truck.
• Strong instructions-following and training completion ability.
• Ability to work independently or as part of a team; shows initiative.

Responsibilities

• Operate tractor-trailer combos, including doubles (triples where allowed).
• Perform daily pre-trip and safety inspections.
• Hook/unhook trailers and converter dollies to/from a tractor or trailer.
• Verify and complete required documentation and reports.
• Maintain accurate daily logs.
• Comply with hazmat regulations and procedures.
• Follow dispatch instructions and communicate issues.
• May perform tire chain duties as needed.
• May perform duties of city driver or dock employee when required.
• Load and unload freight as required.
• Comply with laws/regulations and company policies.
• Perform other duties as required.
