Job summary

Cheney Brothers, Inc. is seeking a Shuttle Driver to move empty trailers to our warehouse network and turn around to deliver full trailers to domicile sites. You will operate tandem, tractor, or straight trucks on intrastate and interstate routes, complying with DOT regulations and safety standards.

The role requires 12+ months of commercial driving, a valid CDL A with Doubles Endorsement, and a 21+ age. Expect a 3rd shift schedule (Sun–Thu nights) with occasional Fridays for special deliveries.

Qualifications

• 12+ months of commercial driving experience
• Valid CDL A with Doubles Endorsement
• High School Diploma/GED or Equivalent
• Must be 21 years of age
• Meet all State licensing and/or certification requirements
• Clean MVR for past 3 years
• Work required 3rd shift schedule, Sunday–Thursday nights
• Pass pre-employment drug test
• Pass road test
• Valid current DOT Health Card and/or able to secure new DOT Health Card
• Able to hand-lift and utilize two-wheeler, lift gate and/or other equipment to move and/or stack product cases/freight

Responsibilities

• Performs all required safety checks (pre/post trip) per DOT regulations; inspects tractor/truck and trailer.
• Reports all safety issues and/or repairs required.
• Follows DOT regulations and company safety guidelines and policies; reports hazards.
• Inspects trailer for properly loaded and secured freight.
• Ensures route paperwork is with tractor trailer load at dispatch.
• Drives and delivers trailers according to predetermined route schedule.
• Performs hook/unhook procedures per safety guidelines.
• Parks and stores tractor trailers in designated areas.
• Ensures equipment and freight are secured.
• Collects and secures damaged goods and returns; completes necessary paperwork.
• Unloads equipment and removes trash from trailers.
• Completes daily hours of service log per regulations.
• Maintains cleanliness of tractor, dock area, and trailers.
