Job summary

FedEx Freight is seeking a Class A CDL driver to pick up and deliver trailers between service centers and turn-points using tractor-trailer combinations. You will perform pre-trip inspections, document trips, and maintain logs in alignment with DOT standards.

Expect to load/unload freight and possibly operate as a city driver or dock employee as needed. Eligible candidates must hold a CDL with hazmat and tank endorsements, meet MVR and DOT requirements, and demonstrate reliability and teamwork

Qualifications

• CDL with double/triple, hazmat and tank endorsements required; automatic transmission allowed.
• At least 1 year of recent driving experience or completion of FedEx Freight Driver Development Course.
• Must have acceptable MVR per hiring standards.
• Must meet DOT FMC regulations 391 requirements.
• Long Combination Vehicles qualification for listed states; certification may be required.
• Basic written and verbal communication skills for documentation.
• Ability to hook/unhook and lift heavy trailer components around 100 lbs.
• Ability to sit, bend, twist and climb in/out of a truck; stay physically capable.
• Willingness to train, follow instructions, and work independently or in a team.
• Demonstrates initiative and motivation daily.

Responsibilities

• Operate tractor-trailer including doubles/triples where applicable.
• Perform daily pre-trip and safety inspections of equipment.
• Hook/unhook trailers and converter dollies to/from tractor or trailer.
• Verify and complete required documentation and reports.
• Maintain accurate daily logs and comply with DOT rules.
• Follow dispatch instructions and communicate delays or problems.
• May be required to chain tires on vehicles.
• May perform city driver or dock duties when needed.
• Load and unload freight as required.
• Comply with laws and company policies; perform other duties.
