Job summary

NMS Camp Services in North Slope/Prudhoe Bay is seeking a Remote Vac/Water Truck Driver to operate a truck for potable water and wastewater tasks, deliver or pickup commodities, and perform related duties in a remote camp setting.

The role requires a Class A/B CDL, a tank endorsement (N or X) due to large tanks, and a valid DOT physical, with at least two years of experience driving large commercial vehicles in Arctic conditions.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED equivalent.
• Must have a class A or B CDL as required for the trucks.
• Due to tanks being larger than 1,000 gallons, a tank endorsement "N" or "X" is required.
• Valid D.O.T physical is required.
• Two years' experience operating large commercial vehicles in an arctic work setting.
• Water Distribution I and Wastewater I certificates recommended.
• Must pass all pre-employment testing which may include hair follicle drug test, physical and fit for duty assessment and hearing test; travel to the nearest testing facility if not near an approved site.
• Must be able to cooperate and work as part of a team; make quick decisions; stand 12 hours per shift; live in dormitory remote camp.
• Contract requires employees to speak, understand, read, and write English.

Responsibilities

• Empties or fills tank as required or assists in the loading/unloading process.
• Counts material or reads gauges, meters, or other measuring systems to record quantities loaded or unloaded.
• Drives truck to customer's/clients premises.
• Connects hose to tank and/or fixtures and places truck in position at loading docks/areas.
• Performs maintenance, repair, and fueling/oil duties for assigned vehicles.
• Maintains pumps and motors in vehicles and plant.
• Assists plant operators in day-to-day operations and maintenance.
• Attends daily safety toolbox meetings and conducts job safety evaluations for each job.
