Job summary

FedEx Freight, Inc. is seeking a professional driver to pick up and deliver freight between service centers and customers in Texas. You will support the selling process by coordinating with dispatch and handling paperwork.

The role requires a valid CDL-A with double/triple, hazmat and tank endorsements, 1 year of relevant driving experience (or successful completion of the FedEx Freight Driver Development Course), and the ability to lift up to 100 pounds. Starting pay is $29.83 per hour.

Qualifications

• Must possess a Class A CDL with double/triple, hazmat and tank endorsements; automatic transmission restriction allowed.

Responsibilities

• Operate tractor-trailer combinations including doubles/triples and straight trucks.
• Perform pre-trip and safety inspections on equipment.
• Hook/unhook trailers and dollies to/from tractors and trailers.
• Handle freight using motorized and manual equipment (forklift, pallet jack, hand truck).
• Secure freight inside trailers with pallets, straps, and rope.
• Recoup/repair damaged freight when necessary.
• Verify and complete required documentation and reports.
• Comply with hazardous material regulations and DOT procedures.
• Collect charges and maintain documentation.
• Communicate with dispatch and customers for pick-up/delivery needs and potential new business.
• Possibly perform chaining of tires and duties of road driver or dock employee when required.
