Job summary

PFG Customized in Fort Wayne, IN is hiring for an entry level Driver Trainee to learn tractor-trailer or straight truck operations across local and interstate routes. You will start with safe loading/unloading duties and training with a driver mentor to ensure compliance with DOT rules and company policies.

The role requires a CDL Permit (CDL A), 21+ years old, and successful completion of safety checks and paperwork.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma/GED or equivalent.
• Internal PFG Candidates: 1 year of service in good standing and able to attain CDL Permit.
• External Driver School Direct Hire: 0-6 months experience with a CDL Permit.
• External Entry Level Hire: 0-6 months with a CDL Permit.
• Valid CDL A Permit.
• Must be 21 years of age.
• Meet all State licensing and/or certification requirements.
• Clean Motor Vehicle Report (MVR) for past 3 years.
• Pass post offer drug test.
• Pass road test.
• Attains or has valid current DOT Health Card.
• Able to hand-lift and utilize two-wheeler, lift gate and/or other equipment to move and/or stack product cases/freight.

Responsibilities

• Attends and successfully completes PFG Entry Level Driver Trainee or Dock to Driver Training Program.
• Rides-with and assists driver trainer in executing deliveries as required.
• Perform all required safety checks including pre/post trip inspections per DOT regulations.
• Follow all DOT regulations and company safe driving guidelines.
• Inspect trailer for properly loaded freight and complete required paperwork.
• Drive to and deliver customer orders according to predetermined route delivery schedule.
• Unload products from the trailer and verify delivery with customers; collect payments where required.
• Ensure tractor, trailer and freight are secured at all times.
• Complete daily hours-of-service logs and keep area clean.
