Job summary

Performance Food Group is seeking an entry-level Driver Trainee to learn and eventually operate tractor-trailers or straight trucks on local, intrastate/interstate routes. The role includes training, night dispatches (11 pm–2 am), and delivering Food and related products while maintaining DOT compliance and safety standards.

You will participate in training, support deliveries with a trainer, and advance through the program to become a qualified driver at PFG Customized Distribution.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma/GED required.
• 0-6 months commercial driving experience.
• Valid CDL-A.
• Must be 21+ years of age.
• Meet all State licensing and/or certification requirements (where applicable).
• Clean MVR for past 3 years.
• Pass post offer drug test and criminal background check.
• Pass road test.
• Attains or has valid current DOT Health Card and/or able to secure new DOT Health Card.
• Able to lift and move freight up to 90 pounds.

Responsibilities

• Attend and successfully complete Driver Trainee training program.
• Ride-with and assist driver trainer during deliveries.
• Perform safety checks (pre/post trip) and inspect tractor/trailer per DOT regulations.
• Follow all DOT regulations and company safety guidelines.
• Inspect trailer for proper loading and secure freight; complete paperwork.
• Drive to deliver customer orders per route schedule.
• Unload products, verify deliveries, collect signatures and payments when required.
• Ensure tractor, trailer and freight are secured at all times.
• Unload damaged goods and returns; complete necessary paperwork.
• Complete daily hours of service logs.
• Perform housekeeping duties and end-of-shift tasks.
• Perform other related duties as assigned.
