Job summary

FedEx Freight is seeking a CDL A driver to transport trailers between Service Centers and turn-points, operating tractor-trailers (including doubles). Daily pre-trip inspections and accurate logs are required, with adherence to dispatch instructions and safety regulations.

May entail overnight schedules and potential LCVE qualifications in specified states. The role emphasizes independence, teamwork when needed, and strict compliance with DOT rules and hazardous materials handling.

Qualifications

• Must possess a class A CDL with double/triple and hazardous materials endorsements.
• Automatic transmission CDL restriction allowed.
• Must have 1 year experience within the most recent 3 years or successful completion of FedEx Freight Driver Development Course.
• Must have acceptable Motor Vehicle Record (MVR) based on hiring standards.
• Must meet all Department of Transportation (DOT) regulatory requirements under 391 FMC regulations.
• Long combination vehicles (LCV) operate in listed states and require LCV qualification and certification minimum standards.

Responsibilities

• Operate tractor-trailer including doubles (and triples where applicable).
• Perform daily pre-trip and safety inspections.
• Hook/unhook trailers and converter dollies to/from a tractor and/or trailer.
• Verify and complete required documentation and reports.
• Maintain accurate daily logs.
• Follow dispatch instructions and communicate with dispatch about delays or problems.
• Load and unload freight as required.
• Comply with all applicable laws and company policies.
