Job summary

FedEx Freight, Inc is seeking qualified drivers to pick up and deliver trailers between Service Centers and turn-point locations using tractor-trailer combinations. The role emphasizes safety inspections, documentation, log accuracy, and compliance with HazMat and DOT rules.

Responsibilities include operating long-haul trailers, coordinating with dispatch, and potentially performing city driver or dock duties as needed.

Qualifications

• Class A CDL with hazmat, doubles/triples, tanker endorsements; automatic transmission allowed.
• 1 year experience within most recent 3 years, or completion of FedEx Freight Driver Development Course.
• MVR must meet hiring standards.
• DOT FMC regulations section 391 requirements must be met.
• LCV states listed require LCV qualification.
• Basic written and verbal communication skills.
• Ability to hook-up and break-down sets of trailers requiring about 100 lb lift.
• Ability to sit for extended periods, bend, twist, squat, climb in/out of truck.
• Ability to follow instructions and complete required training.
• Ability to work independently and/or as a team member.

Responsibilities

• Operate tractor-trailer including doubles/triples where applicable.
• Perform daily pre-trip and safety inspections.
• Hook/unhook trailers and converter dollies.
• Verify and complete required documentation and reports.
• Maintain accurate daily logs.
• Comply with hazardous material regulations and procedures.
• Follow dispatch instructions and communicate with dispatch.
• Chaining of vehicle tires may be required.
• May perform duties of city driver or dock employee as needed.
• Load and unload freight as required.
• Comply with laws, regulations and company policies.
• Perform other duties as required.
