Performance Food Group is seeking an entry level Driver Trainee to learn tractor trailer or straight truck operation on local routes. You will train under a driver trainer, perform safety checks, and deliver orders to customers while maintaining DOT compliance and accurate paperwork.

The role emphasizes a safe, professional approach, the ability to lift heavy items, and progression toward independent driving. Local routes mean no overnights in this entry level program.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma/GED or equivalent.
• 0-6 months commercial driving experience.
• Valid CDL A.
• Must be 21 years of age.
• Meet all State licensing and/or certification requirements (where applicable)
• Clean MVR for past 3 years.
• Pass post offer drug test.
• Pass road test.
• Attains or has valid current DOT Health Card.
• Able to hand‑lift and utilize two‑wheeler, lift gate and/or equipment to move/freight weighing 60–90 pounds.

Responsibilities

• Attend and successfully complete Driver Trainee or Dock to Driver Training Program.
• Ride with and assist driver trainer during deliveries.
• Perform safety checks (pre/post trip) and DOT inspections.
• Follow DOT regulations and company safety guidelines.
• Inspect trailer for proper loading and secure freight; complete paperwork accurately.
• Drive to and deliver customer orders per schedule; unload at customer sites.
• Ensure equipment is secured after shifts and perform daily hours-of-service logs.
• Perform related duties as assigned.
