Job summary

FedEx Freight in West Sacramento, CA is seeking a safety‑minded CDL driver to pick up and deliver freight between service centers and customers. You will perform pre‑trip inspections, handle freight with equipment, and support sales by soliciting additional business.

Requirements include a valid Class A CDL with hazmat and double/triple endorsements, a relevant MVR, DOT compliance, and the ability to lift up to 100 pounds. This is an on‑site position with comprehensive benefits.

Responsibilities

• Operate tractor-trailer including doubles/triples and straight trucks
• Perform daily pre-trip and safety inspections
• Hook/unhook trailers and dollies
• Handle freight with forklift, pallet jack, hand truck
• Secure freight inside trailers with pallets, straps and rope
• Recoup/repair damaged freight as needed
• Verify and complete required documentation
• Comply with hazardous materials regulations
• Collect payments for freight charges when required
• Follow dispatch instructions and communicate delays or issues
• Communicate with customers to arrange pick-ups/deliveries and solicit additional business
• Provide excellent internal and external customer service
• Ask for additional business leads for sales
• May perform chaining of tires
• May perform road driver or dock duties as needed
• Comply with laws and company policies
• Perform other duties as required
