Job summary

City of Minneapolis seeks a temporary Community Safety Monitor to oversee CCTV, coordinate dispatch of Community Safety Ambassadors, and respond to community calls related to low-level safety concerns. The role supports internal departments and external stakeholders in a regular indoor office environment.

The position runs in 2026 as a temporary role with potential for 2027, requiring a high school diploma and at least one year of related experience; the city does not sponsor work visas.

Qualifications

• Basic office procedures and equipment knowledge.
• Ability to follow established procedures and policies.
• Experience working with the public in sensitive situations.
• Familiarity with security-related data entry and records.
• Ability to use computers and standard software systems.
• Understanding of laws related to trespass and security.
• Experience with radio/communications equipment is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Monitor CCTV and centralized camera systems for suspicious activity.
• Dispatch Community Safety Ambassadors as needed per procedures.
• Serve as a point of contact for public, businesses, residents and staff via phone/radio.
• Relay information between ambassadors, internal departments, and external stakeholders.
• Operate two-way radios, pagers, and radio base stations.
• Enter, retrieve and maintain security data in computer systems.
• Maintain electronic records and archives.
• Monitor inventory of supplies and notify for repairs/replenishment.
• Perform general office tasks and admin support.
