Job summary

The University of Minnesota, Twin Cities, is seeking a Public Safety Emergency Communications Center Operator to monitor surveillance, respond to calls for service, and dispatch personnel across five campuses. The role includes rotating shifts, holidays, and weekends in a high-stress environment with opportunities to train and lead on occasion.

These positions require a high school diploma or GED, plus at least one year of related experience. Background checks and CJIS clearance are required.

Qualifications

• Graduation from high school or GED equivalent
• One year experience conducting security dispatching, video monitoring, electronic surveillance, alarm management and response, emergency communications, access administration, or a related activity.
• Equivalent combinations of related college or vocational coursework may substitute for work experience.
• All employment offers are conditioned upon the applicant passing a background check. Employees in this classification must be able to pass clearance to access Criminal Justice Information Systems (CJIS)

Responsibilities

• Monitoring Surveillance: active monitoring of video surveillance and random patrols across campuses.
• Dispatching: answer calls, assign personnel, maintain statuses, and log updates in CAD.
• Hardware/system operation: operate CCTV, intercoms, and emergency alerting systems.
• After-hours responses: handle after-hours card access calls and provide information to callers.
