Position:Catholic Communications Writer Editor
The Catholic Communications Writer/Editor is responsible for producing engaging, thoughtful, and mission-aligned written content for the Diocese of Green Bay and On Mission Media. This role develops original columns, feature articles, profiles and inspiring stories for On Mission magazine, e-newsletter and website.
The Catholic Communications Writer/Editor combines strong writing, reporting, interviewing, and storytelling skills with a solid understanding of the Catholic faith. The writer communicates the life, mission, and ministries of the Church in ways that inform, inspire, and connect readers to their faith and to the Catholic community.
Key responsibilities include researching and developing story ideas; conducting interviews; writing and editing compelling feature stories and columns; adapting content for digital and print audiences; and collaborating with communications, editorial, and ministry teams to ensure content accurately reflects the vision and mission of the Diocese of Green Bay and On Mission media.
The ideal candidate is an accomplished writer and storyteller who can translate complex topics—including matters of faith, Church teaching, ministry, and community life—into clear, accessible, and engaging content for a broad Catholic audience. The position requires strong editorial judgment, attention to detail, the ability to work independently, and a demonstrated ability to manage multiple projects and meet deadlines while maintaining a high standard of quality.
A strong working knowledge of Catholic teaching, Scripture, liturgy, and the life and mission of the Church is essential. Experience in journalism, communications, Catholic media, nonprofit communications, or a related field is preferred.
