The Diocese of Green Bay seeks a Safe Environment Coordinator to support parishes and schools in implementing safeguarding policies and reporting as required by the Bishops’ Charter to Protect Children and Young People.

This role emphasizes confidentiality, training delivery, and collaboration with diocesan leadership to promote best practices in safeguarding throughout Northeast Wisconsin.

Qualifications

  • Embrace the mission and vision of the Catholic Diocese of Green Bay and work in accordance with Catholic Teachings and the moral and ethical values of the Catholic Church.
  • Bachelor's degree with 5 years of direct experience in related field.
  • Knowledge of conflict resolution strategies and their application.
  • Knowledge of Catholic Church structure; practicing Catholic preferred.
  • Understanding of diocese policies and USCCB Charter for Child and Youth Protection.
  • Strong written and oral communications; listening skills are critical.
  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
  • Adult training concepts and delivery.
  • High level of confidentiality and ability to work with sensitive information.
  • Time Management, Public Speaking, and Problem solving.
  • Administrative and managerial competence.
  • Computer skills for word processing, e-mail, or presentations.
  • Discretion in complex situations and interpersonal conflict.
  • Pastoral approach balanced with tenacity.
  • Sensitivity, empathy, diplomacy, and respect.
  • Ability to manage workload with high standards for quality and confidentiality.
  • Self-motivated to take initiative.

Responsibilities

  • Support parishes and schools with compliance to the Bishops’ Charter to Protect Children and Young People.
  • Provide training and resources to staff and volunteers on safeguarding policies.
  • Maintain confidentiality and handle sensitive information with discretion.
  • Collaborate with diocesan leadership to implement safeguarding programs and reporting.
  • Communicate policy updates and ensure consistent application across ministries.

The Safe Environment Coordinator will support parishes and schools and related entities with compliance to the policies and procedures associated with the Bishops’ Charter to Protect Children and Young People.

MINIMUM KNOWLEDGE, EXPERIENCE AND SKILLS REQUIRED:

  • Preferred Bachelor’s degree in Social Work, Human Resources, psychology, Pastoral Ministry, Counseling, or related field with 5 years of direct experience in such field.
  • Knowledge of or desire to learn conflict resolution strategies and their application to others.
  • Knowledge of or desire to learn the Catholic Church structure and hierarchy, practicing Catholic preferred.
  • Thorough understanding of the diocese’s policies and procedure regarding USCCB Charter of Child and Youth Protection.
  • Strong written and oral communications; listening skills are critical to success in this position.
  • Strong organizational skills and attentive to detail and follow up on issues.
  • Adult training concepts and delivery.
  • High level of confidentiality and ability to work with sensitive information.
  • Problem analysis, solving and decision-making skills in the area of human relations.
  • Time Management, Conflict Resolution, Public Speaking.
  • Administrative and managerial competence.
  • Computer skills for word processing, e-mail, or presentations.
  • Comfort level in situations that demand discretion in complex situations and a high degree of interpersonal conflict.
  • Pastoral approach balanced with tenacity.
