NC State University’s Rave! Catering is seeking an organized Event Coordinator to join our premier campus dining team in Raleigh. You’ll translate event visions into reality, coordinate staff and logistics, and ensure flawless on-site execution with a professional, friendly presence.

The position is temporary with hours varying by events; compensation is about $18 per hour with potential for renewal and advancement to a permanent, benefits-eligible role based on performance.

About the Role

Rave! Catering is looking for an organized, high‑energy Event Coordinator to join our premier catering team. Rave! Catering proudly employs experienced, certified chefs and catering professionals dedicated to delivering the highest level of service. We don't expect you to know everything on day one; our dedicated, expert team will provide hands‑on, on‑the‑job training to help you thrive, grow, and lead.

Key Responsibilities

• Mastermind the Logistics: Translate event visions into reality. Organize staff, equipment, and logistics, using Catertrax to proactively build equipment lists and event floor plans.
• Ensure Flawless Execution: Stay one step ahead by making sure every linen, fork, and menu item is ordered, on‑hand, and ready before guests arrive.
• Lead and Inspire: Supervise events on‑site. Run lean, independent events or lead a large service team to execute a flawless dining experience.
• Deliver "Rave" Service: Act as the friendly, professional face of Rave! Catering, building relationships with university clients and following up to ensure expectations were exceeded.
• Be a Collaborative Pack Member: Support the broader NC State Dining mission by stepping in to assist at other campus dining locations when unique business needs arise.

Schedule & Compensation

The position is temporary. Hours will vary depending on events and may include evenings and weekends. Compensation is approximately $18 per hour, with the possibility of renewing employment and/or advancing to a permanent, benefits‑eligible position upon superior performance.

Qualifications

Minimum Experience/Education: High school diploma or equivalency. Demonstrated possession of necessary competencies will also be considered.

• Able to work in a fast‑paced environment and follow written and verbal instructions.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills for effective communication with customers, peers, and supervisors, and professionally communicating with multiple levels of employees within the university.
• Provide outstanding customer service, including the ability to remain professional and respectful under pressure when dealing with difficult situations.
• Demonstrated excellent organization skills, including accurate and timely data entry.
• Must be able to professionally collaborate with colleagues and be part of a team environment.
• Requires bending, twisting, pulling, and pushing.
• Must be able to lift 30 pounds above the head and up to 60 pounds on rare occasions, with or without reasonable assistance.
• Valid driver's license required. State vehicle furnished to drive to events or other campus enterprises locations. Valid NC driver's license required. Commercial driver's license not required.

Additional Responsibilities

• Be an ambassador for NC State Dining and the university, enriching the quality of life for the campus community and supporting student success.
• Work as a cohesive team member and play an integral part in creating a positive work environment.
• Contribute to maintaining a Grade A sanitation rating of 95% or better.
