Job summary

Chartwells Higher Ed is hiring a full-time Catering Captain for Michigan Tech University in Houghton, MI. You will coordinate catering staff, ensure timely service, and may drive to delivery sites.

You’ll supervise setup, serve guests, maintain HACCP standards, resolve issues, and work with the Catering Director to deliver successful functions. Catering and customer service experience is required. Flexible schedule and hours may vary.

• Catering and customer service experience required.

Responsibilities

• Determine workload from catering orders.
• Meet with function group leaders to discuss setup arrangements; address changes and resolve problems.
• Interact with customers and resolve complaints in a service-oriented manner.
• Demonstrate understanding of menu items.
• Instruct staff on work expectations for catered functions.
• Help staff set up rooms to desired specifications.
• Assemble and deliver food and supplies to scheduled locations.
• Serve food and beverages to guests.
• Return food, beverages, equipment and utensils to catering facility.
• Ensure proper presentation, portion control and temperatures; follow HACCP standards.
• Maintain sanitation and orderliness of equipment, supplies and utensils.
• Ensure proper food preparation by following recipes and production standards.
• Performs other duties as assigned.
