Job summary

EVP EyeCare in Dallas seeks a Surgical Counselor to educate patients on cataract and LASIK options and guide them through pre‑certification and scheduling. You will coordinate paperwork, discuss implant choices and financing, and handle post‑op follow‑ups with patients and referring providers.

Required are a high school diploma, 2+ years in a medical office, and strong insurance knowledge. Bilingual Spanish is preferred, with a patient‑centered, empathetic approach and attention to detail.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required.
• At least two years in a medical office setting.
• Prior Surgical Counseling and sales experience preferred.
• Knowledge of insurance carrier policies and processes.
• Bilingual in Spanish preferred.

Responsibilities

• Counsel and educate patients about upcoming surgery and lens options.
• Set surgery dates and manage post‑op appointments.
• Send paperwork to authorization specialists for eligibility and benefits.
• Obtain pre-certifications from carriers and discuss financing options.
• Coordinate communication with referring optometrists and staff.
