About the Department:

The Division for Enrollment Management, as part of the Office ofthe Provost at George Mason University, supports studentrecruitment, retention, and success. We develop and implementstrategic enrollment management plans, create and facilitateprocesses, and inform policies that guide students through theiracademic journey from recruitment to post-matriculation. About the Position:

The Catalog and Curriculum Specialist is responsible for course andprogram inventory maintenance and participation in the annualpublication process of the University Catalog. The position isexpected to leverage extensive breadth and depth of knowledge ofGeorge Mason University curricular policies and procedures tomanage the curriculum approval process and provide outstandingcustomer service to our university partners.

Responsibilities:
  • Monitors the curriculum approval process in CourseLeaf andprocesses course and program inventory requests;
  • Runs regular curriculum-related data quality reports andindependently conducts data clean-up efforts as needed;
  • Assists with academic coding in Banner as assigned by thesupervisor;
  • Communicates potential issues related to the course and programproposals to academic units and the Assistant Registrar asneeded;
  • Engages in cross-functional collaboration with the Degree Auditteam to provide support with the curricular update process;
  • Performs these curriculum responsibilities in a timely manner,communicates with constituents clearly and professionally, andoperates independently;
  • Participates in the annual catalog review and publicationprocess by adhering to established deadlines for page review andassisting the Assistant Registrar with publication andpost-publication steps as assigned;
  • Leverages knowledge of complex policies, requirements, pagestructure, and standard formatting for the publication to assistpartners with questions and concerns regarding the publicationtimeline, process, and/or specific edits;
  • Develops and maintains curriculum training materials andprocess documentation, including, but not limited to,document-based manuals, presentations, training videos, and webpage content;
  • Conducts end user training on submitting proposals, formattingstandards, and reporting resources;
  • Provides ongoing support to end users;
  • Conducts testing for CourseLeaf updates and software patches;and
  • Maintains test plans and completes testing with appropriatedocumentation.
Required Qualifications:
  • Experience providing customer service;
  • Experience handling multiple priorities in a busyworkplace;
  • Experience with various electronic applications;
  • Experience with the application of rules and regulations;
  • Strong customer service skills, attention to detail,communication, organization, analytical, and editing/proofreadingskills;
  • Demonstrated critical thinking to solve complex problems;
  • Demonstrated ability to interpret policies, identify andresolve discrepancies, manage competing deadlines, and analyzereports; and
  • Ability to work independently with accuracy and soundjudgement.
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Associate’s degree in related field;
  • Registrar’s office experience;
  • Experience as a copy editor;
  • Experience with a curriculum management system and academiccatalog production tool, particularly CourseLeaf CIM and CAT;
  • Experience with Banner or comparable student informationsystem;
  • Microsoft Office proficiency; and
  • Demonstrated knowledge of curriculum, catalog, degree audit orcomparable higher education processes.
