Job Responsibilities

1. Provide efficient and courteous service to customers at all times, including inviting customers to check out. NEVER sign off the register with a customer waiting; always wait until someone comes to relieve you.
2. Scan and ring customer orders according to company policy, ensuring store productivity standards are met. Verify items are credited to the correct department and all items are removed from the cart.
3. Receive and be accountable for all funds collected during transactions.
4. Assist the courtesy clerk in bagging groceries.
5. Maintain a neat and clean work station and surrounding area.
6. Know and follow all applicable state and local laws regarding beer and/or wine sales.
7. Understand and adhere to all federal laws related to WIC handling.
8. Follow proper procedures for handling coupons.
9. Comply with company policies for check cashing and tendering procedures.
10. Understand and follow policies for Debit Card, Credit Card, Gift Card, EBT Cash, and EBT Food Stamp transactions.
11. Use assigned tills properly according to company policy.
12. Take weekly produce tests as required.
13. Ensure that all not-on-file items are recorded and submitted daily.
14. Follow proper procedures for obtaining change.
15. Use the intercom correctly and appropriately.
16. Avoid engaging in conversations with other associates while checking out orders.
17. Know and understand the ValuCard program and be able to explain it to customers.
18. Assist with light stocking duties, including candy and cigarettes.
19. Sweep the front end area regularly.
20. Replace misplaced items to their proper locations.
21. Maintain cleanliness of bathrooms.
22. Perform other duties as assigned.
