Responsibilities include:

1. Provide efficient and courteous service to customers at all times, including asking customers to check out. Never sign off the register with a customer waiting; always wait until someone relieves you.
2. Scan and ring customer orders according to company policy, ensuring items are credited to the correct department and all items are removed from the cart.
3. Receive and be accountable for all funds taken for each transaction.
4. Assist courtesy clerks in bagging groceries.
5. Maintain a neat and clean work station and surrounding area.
6. Follow all state, local, and federal laws regarding sales, WIC handling, and coupon procedures.
7. Follow company policies for check cashing, tendering, and transaction procedures.
8. Properly use assigned tills and the ValuCard program.
9. Take weekly produce tests and record all not-on-file items daily.
10. Follow proper procedures for obtaining change and using the intercom.
11. Ensure no conversations occur with other associates while checking out customers.
12. Assist with light stocking duties and keep bathrooms neat and clean.
13. Perform other duties as assigned.
