Responsibilities include:

• Provide efficient and courteous service to customers at all times, including directing customers to the check-out. NEVER sign off the register with a customer waiting. Always wait until someone comes to relieve you.
• Scan and ring customer orders according to company policy, ensuring items are credited to the correct department and all items are removed from the cart.
• Receive and be accountable for all funds taken for each transaction.
• Assist the courtesy clerk in bagging groceries.
• Maintain a neat and clean work station and surrounding area.
• Follow all state, local, and federal laws regarding alcohol sales, WIC handling, coupon procedures, and transaction policies.
• Properly use assigned tills and handle various payment methods including Debit, Credit, Gift Cards, EBT Cash, and Food Stamps.
• Take weekly produce tests and ensure all not-on-file items are recorded and submitted daily.
• Follow proper procedures for obtaining change and using the intercom.
• Refrain from engaging in conversations with other associates while checking out orders.
• Understand and explain the ValuCard program.
• Assist with light stocking duties, sweep the front end, and replace misplaced items.
• Keep bathrooms clean and tidy.
• Perform other duties as assigned.
