Responsibilities include drafting pleadings, interviewing witnesses, organizing case files, monitoring medical treatment, and coordinating with insurance firms and health portals.

Qualifications

Responsibilities

• Maintain effective communication with attorneys, clients, insurance adjusters, and other professionals.
• Draft legal documents including pleadings, motions, affidavits, and interrogatories.
• Interview clients and witnesses and prepare summaries.
• Organize, store, and retrieve case files and exhibits.
• Monitor and manage a client’s medical treatment.
• Send requests for medical records and billing information.
• Maintain and organize client files; prepare general correspondence and e-mails.
• Understand subrogation liens and disputing unrelated charges.
• Complete balance sheets reflecting Rule 414 payments/adjustments.
• Familiarity with Medicare, Medicaid, and other health insurance portals.

Job description

Speaks Law Firm is seeking an experienced high volume Personal Injury Case Manager (Paralegal) to join our Wilmington team. Candidates must have at least two (2) years of experience working with a high volume of personal injury claims in NC.

Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

• Maintain effective communication with attorneys, clients, insurance adjusters, and other professionals to discuss assigned cases or projects
• Drafting of legal documents including routine pleadings and motions, affidavits, and interrogatories; files motions and pleadings according to judicial procedures
• Interview clients and witnesses and prepare summaries of their statements
• Prepare, organize, store, and retrieve case files, which may include evidence, exhibits, depositions, pleadings, exhibits, and other items
• Monitor & manage client’s medical treatment
• Send requests for information including medical records & billing
• Maintain/organize client files
• Preparation and filing of general correspondence, e-mails, demand packages and other exhibits into Case Management Software
• Understand subrogation liens & disputing unrelated charges
• Complete balance sheets accurately reflecting Rule 414 payments/adjustments
• Familiarity with Medicare, Medicaid, and other health insurance portals

Qualifications

Required:

• High school diploma or equivalent
• Two (2) plus years of experience working with NC personal injury claims
• Passion for advocating for our clients and maintaining a positive attitude
• Strong organizational skills and attention to detail
• Intermediate computer skills
• Ability to effectively communicate and collaborate with clients and colleagues

Preferred:

• Associate's degree or higher
• Paralegal certificate a plus
• Experience with SmartAdvocate software a plus
• Bilingual English and Spanish a plus
