Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent with 3 years of full-time social/human services experience.
• Bachelor's degree plus 18 months of experience as a Benefits Opportunity Specialist or similar.
• Bachelor's degree plus 18 months of related social/human services work.

Responsibilities

• Supervise BOS staff and monitor workflow for applications, safety net, and related cases.
• Review cases, authorize benefits as required, and ensure timely reporting.
• Act as liaison to the Rental Assistance Unit and coordinate with housing services.
• Manage teams interviewing applicants and assessing eligibility for immediate needs.
• Direct services from case opening through ongoing eligibility and employment plans.
• Conduct regular reviews of outcomes, audits, and participant feedback to improve performance.
• Provide case consultations on difficult cases and ensure proper planning.
• Oversee clerical/BOS staff serving walk-ins and telephone inquiries.
• Monitor housing needs for tenants at risk of homelessness and develop intervention plans.
• Prepare unit activity reports and assist with fair hearing preparations where needed.
