Job summary

SGS in Kentucky seeks a Petroleum Inspector to perform sampling, gauging, and reconciliation for hydrocarbon cargo transfers, working closely with clients and authorities. You will report results using SGS systems and ensure compliance with API standards and internal procedures.

The role requires HS diploma and 6 months to 2 years of transferrable experience, with preferred completion of the Inspector Development Program.

Qualifications

• High School or equivalent (Required)
• 6 months to 2 years of transferrable industry experience (Preferred)
• Completion of internal Inspector Development Program Level (Preferred)

Responsibilities

• Physically samples, measures, and temperatures of vessel and shore tanks per API procedures.
• Follows safety standards and performs job efficiently.
• Calculates and reports quantities of the hydrocarbon transferred and performs full reconciliation.
• Completes all required reports using the SGS Ship Inspection Report (SIR) and Site Acceptance Test (SAT) systems.
• Works with client representatives, US Customs, vessel personnel, government agents and shore facility personnel.
• Maintains regular communication with the office staff regarding job status and issues.
• Adheres to latest industry standards, client requirements and SGS internal policies.
• Operates to the SGS Code of Integrity including safety practices.
• Assists in other branch duties and back-office tasks.
• Performs other duties as assigned.
