Job summary

SGS is seeking a Petroleum Inspector to perform testing and supervision of hydrocarbon cargo transfers, including gauging, sampling, and reconciliation from shore tanks, barges, or ships in Alabama.

You will follow API procedures and SGS standards, communicate with client and vessel personnel, and complete reports using SIR and SAT systems; a valid driver license and TWIC are preferred.

Qualifications

• High School or equivalent (Required).
• 6 months to 2 years of transferrable industry experience (Preferred).
• Completion of internal Inspector Development Program Level (Preferred).

Responsibilities

• Physically sample and measure vessel and shore tanks per API procedures.
• Calculate and report transferred quantities and perform reconciliation.
• Complete reports using SGS Ship Inspection Report (SIR) and Site Acceptance Test (SAT).
• Coordinate with client representatives, vessel personnel, and facility staff.
• Maintain knowledge of industry standards and SGS internal policies.
