Job summary

Hartford HealthCare Independence at Home seeks a Homemaker Caregiver to support elderly and disabled clients in their homes. You’ll assist with personal hygiene, meals, mobility, and basic housekeeping while following each client’s care plan.

You’ll report changes to the nurse, help with therapy exercises, and use a phone or computer for required education. Valid driver’s license and reliable car required; travel within 30 minutes of residence.

Qualifications

• Driver's license and car with auto insurance required for local travel.
• One year of personal care experience at a facility or agency.
• Two years of continuous work experience.
• New Grad CNAs are welcome to apply.
• Caregivers must be comfortable driving within 30 minutes of residence.

Responsibilities

• Provide personal hygiene and grooming care to clients.
• Assist with toileting, ambulation, and mobility.
• Prepare meals meeting clients' nutritional needs.
• Report changes in clients' condition to nurse or supervisor.
• Perform routine housekeeping and home management duties.
• Record client care on care plan and submit timely.
• Provide emotional support to clients and families.
• Assist with routine therapy exercises.
• Participate in case conferences as requested.
• Attend required in-service education sessions.
• Use computer software and smartphone for required education.
• Represent the company with high-level customer service.
• Think critically without direct supervision and expand when appropriate.

Shift Detail: Hourly cases range anywhere from 4- 12 hours at any time in the day, evening or night. Shifts will take place within 30 minutes of where you reside.

The Homemaker Caregiver Position Provides

• Attends all required in-service education sessions
• Has the ability to use computer software program and smart phone for required education
• Represents the company in a positive and professional manner through a high level of customer service
• Can think critically without direct supervision and the ability to expand when appropriate.
