Job summary

Auburn University at Montgomery is seeking a Career Services Manager to lead the Career Development Center's career services, employer outreach, and program assessment to support students and alumni.

You will oversee online platforms, coordinate career fairs and events, and partner with faculty and employers to expand opportunities while training student staff and ensuring data integrity across reports.

Responsibilities

  • Provide career development services to students and alumni, including resume and cover letter development, interview preparation and mock interviews.
  • Administer the university’s online career management platform, including employer posting approval, events, and reporting.
  • Manage operations of Career Closet and the Student Interview Suite, including inventory and reservations.
  • Coordinate student and employer engagement programs, career fairs, information sessions, and virtual recruitment events.
  • Develop communications to promote programs and opportunities across campus partners and platforms.
  • Monitor usage data and assist with annual and institutional reporting.
  • Assist the Director in developing employer relationships and expanding employment opportunities for students and alumni.
  • Train and supervise student employees as appropriate.
  • Support other Career Development Center initiatives and campus programs.

Overview

Auburn University at Montgomery (AUM) is seeking a Career Services Manager to join the AUM Career Development Center team. The Career Services Manager provides leadership and coordination for career services and programs, employer recruitment activities, technology platforms, and assessment initiatives that support the career development and professional success of AUM students and alumni.

Responsibilities
  • Provide career development services to AUM students and alumni, including student professional development programming and resources, job and internship search strategies, resume and cover letter development, interview preparation and mock interviews, and related services.
  • Administer the university’s online career management platform, including employer and job posting approval, employer recruitment activities, career fair and event management, student and alumni account support, system communications, reporting, data integrity, and ongoing evaluation of platform usage.
  • Manage operations of Curtiss’ Career Closet and the Student Interview Suite, including procedures for student use, clothing inventory and donations processing, interview suite reservations, employer on-site interviewing requests, equipment maintenance, supply needs, and facility-related work orders.
  • Manage student and employer engagement programs for the university, including career fairs, employer information sessions, networking events, on-campus recruiting activities, and virtual recruitment events. Oversee program logistics, scheduling, communications, registration processes, promotional efforts, and post-event follow-up in collaboration with Career Development Center staff and campus partners.
  • Support employer outreach and recruitment development efforts by identifying prospective employer partners, responding to employer inquiries, educating employers about recruiting opportunities at AUM, and helping connect employers with appropriate academic programs and student populations.
  • Develop communication and promotional content to support Career Development Center programs, services, events, and initiatives. Communicate career services, programs, events, employer opportunities, and job/internship vacancies to students, academic departments, faculty, Alumni Affairs, and other campus partners through Career Development Center and AUM communication platforms, social media, email marketing, and other appropriate channels.
  • Monitor and analyze Career Development Center services, programs and resources usage data, and assist with preparation of annual reports, institutional reports, and other data summaries as requested.
  • Administer surveys, focus groups, program evaluations, and other assessment measures designed to gather feedback from students, alumni, employers, faculty, and other stakeholders.
  • Assist the Director in developing, maintaining, and expanding relationships with employers, recruiters, university administrators, faculty and staff, alumni, professional organizations, and community partners to increase employment, internship, and professional development opportunities for AUM students and alumni.
  • Remain current on best practices, emerging trends, technologies, and research related to career development, employer recruitment and selection, workforce development, and higher education career services. Share relevant information and recommendations with Career Development Center staff and the broader university community.
  • Assist with the training and supervision of student employees assigned to Career Development Center programs and activities, as appropriate.
  • Provide support to other Career Development Center team members and participate in major departmental and university programs, including New Student Orientation, student recruitment and retention initiatives, and other Enrollment Management and Student Affairs activities.
  • Other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree in higher education, student affairs, counseling, human resources, business, communication, education, or a related field.
  • 2 years of experience in career services, student services, employer relations, recruiting, human resources, workforce development, or a related area.
