Job summary

Auburn University at Montgomery seeks two Student Success Advisors for the Warhawk Academic Success Center. This is not a remote position and staff work on campus in Montgomery, Alabama.

Responsibilities include coordinating referrals, meeting students face-to-face, keeping confidential records, building campus partnerships, delivering workshops, and supporting first‑year student success and retention efforts.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s Degree required.
  • Master’s Degree and experience in Higher Education with students preferred.
  • Knowledge of student policies and procedures, and of first-year experience theory.

Responsibilities

  • Coordinate referral processes via the Warhawk Warning early alert program for faculty and students.
  • Meet regularly with students, face to face, to discuss academic, personal and professional progress.
  • Maintain accurate and confidential records of student interactions.
  • Develop relationships with faculty and staff to encourage involvement in the Warhawk Warning program.
  • Deliver timely data reports regarding Warhawk Warning activities to the Assistant Provost of Enrollment Management.
  • Stay abreast of issues related to student success and retention through professional development.
  • Manage and develop academic and campus partnerships.
  • Facilitate academic success presentations and workshops for campus partners.
  • Represent students on campus committees and outreach events.
  • Develop initiatives to support first-year students’ academic, personal and leadership development.
  • Provide academic advising as needed.
  • Assist in university retention initiatives.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Overview

AUM is seeking to fill two vacancies for a Student Success Advisorin the Warhawk Academic Success Center. (This is not aremote position.)

Responsibilities
  • Coordinate referral processes via the Warhawk Warning earlyalert program forfaculty and the associated students who werereferred.
  • Meet regularly with students, face to face, to discuss theiracademic, personal,and professional progress relative totheir
    AUM experience and insure that theyare aware of institutionalsupport services.
  • Maintain accurate and confidential records of every studentinteraction includingin-person visits, phone consultations,internet correspondences, and any othercommunications.
  • Develop relationships with AUM faculty and staff to encourageinvolvement in theWarhawk Warning early alert program.
  • Maintain, and deliver timely responses and data reportsregarding the Warhawk Warning program activities on a monthly basisto the Assistant Provost of Enrollment Management.
  • Stay abreast of current issues and trends related to collegestudents’ academic success and retention through activeprofessional development.
  • Manage existing and develop new academic and campuspartnerships.
  • Facilitate academic success presentations and workshops tovarious campuspartners.
  • Serve as a Student Success representative on campus committeesand atoutreach events.
  • Develop new initiatives designed to support the academic,personal, and leadership development of first-year AUM
    students.
  • Provide academic advising as needed.
  • Assist in university retention initiatives.
  • Other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
Minimum Qualifications

Bachelor’s Degree.

Preferred Qualifications

Master’s Degree and experience working in Higher Educationwithstudents preferred.

Minimum Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
  • Knowledge of the University’s student policies and proceduresand those related to assigned department
  • Knowledge of first-year experience theory and practicalapplication
  • Knowledge of applicable federal and state regulations
  • Exceptional written and oral communication skills
  • Interpersonal skills
  • Ability to develop, identify, and assess program goals andreport findings
  • Ability to balance multiple projects at once
