Job summary

Cromwell Academy is seeking an Educational Support Counselor to provide guidance, supervision, mentoring, and training to students across educational and vocational settings in Cromwell, CT. The role supports children, adolescents, and young adults with ASD/IDD, delivering trauma-informed, person-centered care and implementing behavior strategies.

Responsibilities include IEP/504 collaboration, routine assessments, crisis intervention, and coordination with families and staff.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in psychology, social work or related field is preferred.
• Experience with ASD/IDD and trauma-informed care is valued.
• Strong communication, empathy, and teamwork skills required.
• Ability to maintain confidentiality and handle sensitive information.

Responsibilities

• Provide guidance, supervision, mentoring, and training to students across settings.
• Implement behavior management and support IEP/504 plans and vocational training.
• Assist with instructional activities and provide academic support as needed.
• Deliver crisis intervention using PMT techniques and maintain safety.
• Attend PPT and staff meetings and communicate with team and families.
• Transport and support students to interviews, placements, and sites as needed.
• Maintain accurate records and progress reports in the EHR system.
• Foster a trauma-informed, supportive, and structured learning environment.
