Job summary

Action for Boston Community Development (ABCD) is hiring a Career Advisor to support MassHire Career Centers in Boston. You will handle a high volume of customer interactions, guide clients through career planning and labor market information, and help develop employment plans to advance job opportunities.

The role requires strong communication, the ability to travel between centers (Cambridge/Woburn/Chelsea), and a commitment to serving the Greater Boston community.

Qualifications

• Minimum of High School Diploma, or equivalent, required and minimum of three years of customer service or relevant experience.
• An Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree in human services, public administration, business management or related field and 2 years of experience working in a career center or related experience preferred.
• Effective communication and public speaking skills with the ability to advocate for career center customers

Responsibilities

• Manage a high volume of customer interactions and meet deadlines for services and data entry.
• Explain procedures for Career Center services including career planning, job development, and labor market information, training opportunities and referrals.
• Provide an initial assessment for customers and assist with developing an employment plan with goals.
• Review customer’s work search activities, resume, labor market information and employment plan.
• Assist with resume and cover letter review and development, job search strategies, labor market information, referrals to partner services.
• Provide customers accurate information on unemployment insurance requirements and ensure compliance.
• Facilitate orientation workshops for new customers and job search/career transition workshops.
• Input relevant customer data following MOSES policies and generate MOSES reports.
• Establish and maintain relationships with Career Center partners.
• Perform other related duties as assigned
