Job summary

Qualifications

• One year of related work experience or any combination of experience and education that would demonstrate the capability to perform the required knowledge, skills and abilities.
• Preferred: knowledge of medical terminology obtained through formal education or healthcare work experience

Responsibilities

• Schedules patients for department services or studies based on physician referral.
• Calls patients to set up and confirm appointments; follows up to ensure that each referral is contacted and a disposition is reached; records cancellations and reschedules time slot.
• Answers, screens and directs telephone calls.
• Provides information in response to general inquiries from patients, visitors, staff and others.
• Performs related general office/clerical support duties.
• Transfers patient data to internal forms, and faxes paperwork to Admitting for patient pre-registration.
